Description:Sometimes, let's say one in 200 calls, after incoming call is picked up caller hears static noise on his end and person picking up can't hear anything.
Are you aware of any bug in asterisk that can cause this ?

Thanks for creating a report! The issue has entered the triage process. That means the issue will wait in this status until a Bug Marshal has an opportunity to review the issue. Once the issue has been reviewed you will receive comments regarding the next steps towards resolution.

A good first step is for you to review the [Asterisk Issue Guidelines|https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+Issue+Guidelines] if you haven't already. The guidelines detail what is expected from an Asterisk issue report.

Then, if you are submitting a patch, please review the [Patch Contribution Process|https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Patch+Contribution+Process].

Attached is sample recording where noise starts at 33s time mark. Codec is set to ulaw.

>Are you aware of any bug in asterisk that can cause this ?

Nope. I recommend testing the latest release to see if it occurs there. At that point if the problem still occurs you will want a packet capture of the call (including RTP/audio) and a correlating asterisk debug log.

This isn't a forum for troubleshooting. At this point this isn't really a bug report. If you can't provide the debug within a few weeks then you should pursue this issue on the forums, the mailing lists or in the IRC chat channels before filing an issue.

Thanks!

Ok i've updated to the latest asterisk 11.19, i will let you know if the issue still occur.

Thanks.

Thanks Philippe!

It seem to be still there after the update to asterisk 11.19. I will try to reproduce the problem and get you a packet capture and asterisk debug log .

Thanks

Thanks. In this sort of case we really need to understand how to reproduce the issue in order to investigate it. Second best is as much debug as you can gather, including everything I previously mentioned.

It could also be helpful if we can isolate the version this started in.  You've stated it happens in 11.16.0, what was the latest version you ran before this issue started?  Can I assume the issue began after an Asterisk update?  In any case this could help narrow down the list of changes that could have caused the problem.

I'm also trying to troubleshoot a strange audio "garbling" issue on Asterisk 11.19.0.  The last version I ran before was 11.14.0.  I'm not sure if the issue I'm experiencing is the same, related, or completely different but I figure for now it won't hurt to try working with you on this.  At this time my next plan is to revert the servers 11.14.0, see if that resolves my issue.  If 11.14.0 works I will step forward one version at a time to see what version the issue started.

It's started with 11.16.0 but i do not run any version before 11.16.0. I just updated to 11.20 yesterday. I will have to check if the issue is still there.

By: Philippe Bolduc (philippebolduc) 2015-11-03 11:44:53.175-0600

Ok still there in 11.20. Did you find a way to reproduce this problem ?
Did you listen to the wav file ?

Thanks.

By: Corey Farrell (coreyfarrell) 2015-11-03 20:50:23.353-0600

I could not hear a difference between the two wav files.  I'm not confident you and I are experiencing the same issue.  My issue seems to happen more frequently, possibly every call.  At this point my plan is to start narrowing down the versions by first reverting to an older version where I did not experience the issue.  Then I will narrow down to determine when the regression was introduced.  Honestly at this point I'm not 100% sure my issue is in Asterisk.  It's possible that my issue was caused by a kernel update and some interaction with my hardware, I will determine this once I am able to downgrade the version on the systems that are experiencing the issue.

By: Rusty Newton (rnewton) 2015-11-04 19:09:33.503-0600

Please attach a complete pcap of a problematic call along with wav files that demonstrate the issue.

Your current wav files don't appear to demonstrate an issue, and wav files alone will not help us determine if there is a real bug here.

In addition we need the debug log discussed earlier. (please follow the linked instructions in previous comments).

I roll back my asterisk installation to 11.13.1. I wiil let you know if the issue is still present.

Thanks.

By: Philippe Bolduc (philippebolduc) 2015-11-13 11:24:46.801-0600

Still there with  11.13.1 i'm thinking it may not be related to asterisk ...

By: Rusty Newton (rnewton) 2015-11-18 13:21:50.032-0600

At this point we don't believe it is either, but we don't have much to go on. I'll go ahead and close this issue out. You'll probably want to have someone experienced with troubleshooting VOIP audio issues look into your network and examine the suspect calls in a variety of ways.

In the future if you narrow down how to reproduce the issue or find evidence that the issue is with Asterisk feel free to open a new issue. For the new issue be sure to include sample audio files, pcaps for the calls with correlating Asterisk debug logs.

The last audio file is a communication between two aastra phone running the firmware 4.1.0.128 one 6863i and one 6867i. Communication between phone are in g722.

Thanks

Thanks

I have checked this page and my issue seem to be a motor sound

By: Rusty Newton (rnewton) 2016-01-04 08:21:42.694-0600

We still need you to provide a debug log along with your packet capture.

Please gather a new packet capture along with a correlating debug log. Please capture the debug log exactly as described here:

https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Collecting+Debug+Information

Verify the debug log contains DEBUG messages before attaching it to this issue. Thanks!

Have you experienced this issue with 13 as well?
