But i already compiled with PIC as output show,

Thanks for creating a report! The issue has entered the triage process. That means the issue will wait in this status until a Bug Marshal has an opportunity to review the issue. Once the issue has been reviewed you will receive comments regarding the next steps towards resolution.

A good first step is for you to review the [Asterisk Issue Guidelines|https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+Issue+Guidelines] if you haven't already. The guidelines detail what is expected from an Asterisk issue report.

Then, if you are submitting a patch, please review the [Patch Contribution Process|https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Patch+Contribution+Process].

Please note that once your issue enters an open state it has been accepted. As Asterisk is an open source project there is no guarantee or timeframe on when your issue will be looked into. If you need expedient resolution you will need to find and pay a suitable developer. Asking for an update on your issue will not yield any progress on it and will not result in a response. All updates are posted to the issue when they occur.

You may feel that this comment and other, similar comments you've made on the community forums are benign and are merely expressing your frustration.  Others may take offense to them.  I encourage you to be more considerate with your phrasing.

hi @malcom i take your suggestion, but, make a importnat note:

when you ask to vendor, to communituy and ask due a problem common response are "upgrade and use lasted"

are the bundled pjproject lasted and upgraded version? or a just hacked by asterisk?

quite frustrating? yes obviously! sorry for the true!

By: Joshua C. Colp (jcolp) 2019-05-09 09:35:02.973-0500

Bundled pjproject is the latest version as of the time of the Asterisk release itself, with a few build patches applied and any changes which have been backported (not yet released by Teluu - the creators of pjproject - themselves). Their tarball is downloaded as part of the process, and we do not maintain a fork of it.

Usage of bundled is not required.

By: Malcolm Davenport (mdavenport) 2019-05-09 09:35:45.913-0500

The rationale behind the bundled version is contained here:
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/PJSIP-pjproject

By: PICCORO Lenz McKAY (mckaygerhard) 2019-05-09 09:39:04.572-0500

thanks Joshua.. so then for sure some patched are not applied yet or similar i'll revised at upstream but take in consideration that pjproject was automatically downloaded and build by the asterisk build process

if i got some news around the problem i'll comment here!

By: Joshua C. Colp (jcolp) 2019-05-09 09:42:50.813-0500

I have no idea within your build what would cause such a problem. Like other problems you've seen, they haven't been experienced or reported by others. All continuous integration also uses bundled PJSIP, and 16 defaults to bundled for all users.

Something is adding the following options to the compile command line
{noformat}
-fPIE -pie -Wl,-z,relro -Wl,-z,now -Wl,--as-needed
{noformat}
and the following to the link command line
{noformat}
-fgnu89-inline -fPIE -fstack-protector-strong -Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2
{noformat}

Please try building Asterisk using only the base {{./configure}} script and {{make}}

Also...to troubleshoot further we'll need some details about your environment...  distribution and version, processor architecture, gcc version, etc.

By: PICCORO Lenz McKAY (mckaygerhard) 2019-05-09 10:07:35.413-0500

updated issue with environment, please see it

about the compile command line:

* `-fPIE` was suggested by the compiler the firts time, but still error it happened
* ` - pie -Wl,-z,relro -Wl,-z,now -Wl,--as-needed`  are just only to do not link unneeded things.. that's do not break anything

in the linking case:

* `-fgnu89-inline -fPIE -fstack-protector-strong` don't make sense.. compiling without that got same error
* `-Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 ` this force security suppost do not affect compilation but i just try lateer that last change.. and post feedback here!

By: George Joseph (gjoseph) 2019-05-09 10:19:30.240-0500

OK.  If you're still having the issue, please also report the exact options passed to {{configure}} and {{make}}.

For a native x86_64 build, you need to REMOVE {{-fPIE}} from the CFLAGS and {{-fPIE -pie}} from LDFLAGS.

Thanks for the hint.. now works by removing -fPIE and -pie and addiding -fPIC

quite strange but i cited that most linux build scripts and environment set that flags by default due security reasons. so all of you must take care of

By: George Joseph (gjoseph) 2019-05-09 12:40:30.408-0500

PIE and PIC aren't related to security at all.
Anyway, closing the issue.
