Description:I am using realtime PJSIP and realtime voicemail.  If you restart asterisk all the endpoints report that they do not have any messages waiting even though there are new messages in the INBOX.  Only time I am able to get the MWI if I leave a new message in their mailbox.

Thanks for creating a report! The issue has entered the triage process. That means the issue will wait in this status until a Bug Marshal has an opportunity to review the issue. Once the issue has been reviewed you will receive comments regarding the next steps towards resolution. Please note that log messages and other files should not be sent to the Sangoma Asterisk Team unless explicitly asked for. All files should be placed on this issue in a sanitized fashion as needed.

A good first step is for you to review the [Asterisk Issue Guidelines|https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+Issue+Guidelines] if you haven't already. The guidelines detail what is expected from an Asterisk issue report.

Then, if you are submitting a patch, please review the [Patch Contribution Process|https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Patch+Contribution+Process].

Please note that once your issue enters an open state it has been accepted. As Asterisk is an open source project there is no guarantee or timeframe on when your issue will be looked into. If you need expedient resolution you will need to find and pay a suitable developer. Asking for an update on your issue will not yield any progress on it and will not result in a response. All updates are posted to the issue when they occur.

Please note that by submitting data, code, or documentation to Sangoma through JIRA, you accept the Terms of Use present at [https://www.asterisk.org/terms-of-use/|https://www.asterisk.org/terms-of-use/].

We require additional debug to continue with triage of your issue. Please follow the instructions on the wiki [1] for how to collect debugging information from Asterisk. For expediency, where possible, attach the debug with a '.txt' file extension so that the debug will be usable for further analysis.

Thanks!

Please also attach further configuration information, and include configuration for the channel driver in use.

Attached are logs.

At timestamp [Apr 15 09:20:24]  you will see mwi is set to no for endpoint 175-eng5:

Messages-Waiting: no
Voice-Message: 0/0 (0/0)

Then at timestamp [Apr 15 09:20:57] I leave a new message for endpoint 175-eng5 and it sent NOTIFY with mwi yes showing 25 new messages:

Messages-Waiting: yes
Voice-Message: 25/0 (0/0)

We will also need the configuration as well. For example, if you are not specifying a context for your mailboxes then that will cause a problem.

How are voicemails actually being stored? Still on the filesystem? What is the voicemail.conf configuration file?

Voicemails are being stored through the filesystem.  I've attached voicemail.conf.

Remi, if you are looking for a temporary solution, use pollmailboxes=yes and set the poll frequency to 60 seconds or so. This should temporarily get it synchronized while waiting on a possible bugfix.

Luke, I did try that but it causes load issues because I have too many voicemails configured.
